Mr. O'Brian has reported on the state of Hughes' furnace and maintains that an 80-ton vessel cannot come within five miles of the works so another mode of transportation must be found. Simmons returned account information and vouchers to Fleming for payments made by Fleming. A great number of charges belonged to the Quarter Master and Hospital Department which should be given to the Treasury for settlement. Simmons advised Fleming on division of vouchers to appropriate Offices. Simmons also credited Fleming's account for services, requests receipt rolls, notified Fleming his salary was sent to Nicholas Fish for dispensation.
Treasurer of United States will remit $325.00 to Fish. Simmons requests that Fish use money to pay George Fleming upon acquisition of customary receipts.
