The public stores at Shepherds Town have been passed to John Mackey in compliance with Hodgdon's order. Major Langham is expected shortly. In his absence, Morrow has advanced some money on the public account as is evident from the enclosed receipts. He has altered the account and given George Freeman an order for the same.
From Fayetteville, agreeably to Secretary of War orders, Evans will join Captain Bishop's company at Winchester Virginia. He draws $100 to better equip himself on account of his pay.

Hamilton affirms his position that only native citizens or naturalized citizens ought to be enlisted, understanding that some recruiting officers may be tempted to contravene this policy once their district is depleted of native enlistees.
"The Secretary of War has transmitted me a copy of your letter of 1st of April. Mine of the 24th indicates the train in which it is desired that Indian Affairs may proceed. But I shall be glad to be regularly advised of every interesting matter respecting theier movements and views..."
