  Simmons tells Vance that he has given his accounts to Caleb Swan, paymaster general, for examination, and that all explanations should be given to him first.

  400 Muskets Monthly, Etc.

  Amidst a discussion of the returns of the Springfield Armory, Williams pledges that the armory in the future will turn in no less than four hundred muskets monthly. However, he may face a deficiency of gun stocks by February which is a time of year in which it is impossible to get them so a surplus might be sent in December.

Requests him to send the entire shipment by the first suitable water conveyance, addressed to John Harris, public storekeeper.
