Accounts for supplies furnished to the 6th Reg. of Infantry at Avery's borough North Carolina were submitted by William Barry Grove, Esq. Upon examination of the receipts, Simmons found Carraway shortchanged himself, changes made to account to be reimbursed. Sum paid to William B. Grove, attorney for Carraway. Future receipts to be directly submitted to Office and payment to Carraway to be made by Griffith McRee.
Simmons cannot render or examine accounts of Miller per his request. Accounts Miller alluded to in previous letter to be settled and adjusted as authorized by laws of War Department.

Simmons received letter from Jackson with receipts for account of the fortifications, books to be updated. Decision by secretary of war sought by Jackson, Simmons requested an update once decision was made.
Joshua Orne, who was appointed by Major Tousard to superintend the workmen and fortifications at Marblehead, is to be allowed two dollars per day in the settlement of his account for each day that he superintended same.
McHenry needs information related to the amount of monies expended or disbursed on account of the fortifications of the ports and harbors in the US since October 1799.
