The Secretary of War requests that Major Craig's requisition for General Wilkinson be completed by transporting the designated military and quartermaster's stores to Pittsburgh. One ton of powder should also be sent to Pittsburgh to replace the powder forwarded to Fort Washington.
The Secretary of War wants an express ready to proceed with all possible expedition until he overtakes the Pittsburgh mail so as to convey important dispatches for General Wilkinson. The mail leaves Lancaster at five o'clock in the morning.
McHenry advises Wilkinson about the situation, as he had in his letter of the previous day; emphasizes not offending Spanish and rectifying disposition of U.S. troops.
"I enclose you a duplicate of my letter to Brigadier General Wilkinson of yesterday's date for your government in case he should have left Fort Washington or by any accident be prevented from communicating to you the contents. Having a perfect reliance on your prudence and judgement, I cannot doubt but your command will prove satisfactory to yourself and advantage to the United States."
