Updates from Benjamin James that the Spaniards have not interfered with the Indians relationship with the U.S.. War between Indian nations has prompted murder among tribes and requests for assistance. Arrival of troops to the area has settled a tentative peace.
Josiah Fox reports that Secretary of War wishes to inform Mr Jones that he must depend on Mr. Hughes' punctual performance in casting of 12, 9, and 6 pounder cannon. The Algerine Frigate is ready for launching; masts, rigging are prepared. Fox estimates she will be ready for launch at end of present month. Would like to be informed by Mr. Hughes when the 9 and 6 pounders will be ready for proving, so that someone may be assigned to preside.
Certification that twelve dollars is due Private George Geiger of the 4th US Regiment and Waiter to Captain William Eaton, being his pay for April through June 1797.
Enclosed are the muster and payroll for June and the receipt roll for May. In the payroll Capt. Morris has made up the pay of the men whose terms of service will expire in July. Simmons is asked to pay $64 from the payroll to Mr. John Palmer.
The author dispatched Ensign Scott to the Spanish Commandant at New Madrid to learn his disposition regarding General Wilkinson's letter describing the movement of the detachment.
Shoemaker received the letter and $100 intended for Capt. Cornelius Lyman and tried unsuccessfully to overtake him at Carlisle. He encountered Capt. Jacob Slough going to Fort Pitt so forwarded the letter with him. His receipt is enclosed.
Swan declares that, under the directions of Brigadier General James Wilkinson, he has drawn a set of bills upon McHenry in favor of Robert Innis in the amount of six thousand dollars on account of the pay of the Army for 1797.

Certification that $175.33 is due Captain Joseph Elliott of the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers and the men under his command, being his and their pay for June 1797.
Certification that $125 is due Israel Chapin (son of General Israel Chapin), being his salary as Agent to the Six Nations of Indians for April through June 1797.
Certification that $1175 is due Samuel Hodgdon, Superintendent of Military Stores, being his salary, and that of a Storekeeper and Clerks, for April through June 1797.
