Jackson is directed to provide the listed articles of cabin furniture for Captain Nicholson. McHenry notes that no other furniture can be provided by the public to Commissioned Officers on board ships of war than what is absolutely necessary to their immediate accomodation. Any other articles must be provided at their own expense.
Enclosed is the account for the repair of arms including the cleaning of 460 carbines. Cranch apologizes for not sending the gun stocks before the river froze. He wants to know the price of the stocks delivered. In 1793 he was charged twenty cents which is three cents more than stocks of equal goodness made of plank purchased in Philadelphia. If the charge is too high, his profit will be eliminated.
An account is being forwarded to Hodgdon for $544.45 which, after paying ten dollars to Samuel Meredith, Treasurer of the United States, should be forwarded to the Supervisor of New York. Cranch wants to be informed when the money is lodged with Colonel Fish and requires a Treasurer's receipt for the ten dollars.
Certification that $159.84 is due Private Samuel Fitzgerald, late of the Corps of Artillerists and Engineers, being his pay from June 1, 1797 to January 5, 1798, the day of his discharge.
Certification that $28.64 is due Private Jonathan Thattuck, late of Capt. Eaton's Company 4th Regiment, and waiter to Doctor Gillaspy, being his pay for April through December 1797.
