Hollingsworth received a letter from Samuel Hodgdon saying that he had sent a box containing two muskets by wagon from Philadelphia that should be forwarded to Kilty by land stage. Hollingsworth has located the box in Chester County and will forward it as soon as he can retrieve it.
Pinckney informs McHenry that the preparations for assigning the captains, lieutenants and ensigns allotted to North Carolina are almost complete, though assigning officers of higher rank will take longer. Will continue on to South Carolina in the coming weeks.

Relates that the British have determined to send a Colonel Maitland, the man who struck their existing agreement with Toussaint L'Overture of St. Domingo [Haiti], to America. There he will be able to express its details to the U.S. government at Philadelphia, so an arrangement between the U.S. and Great Britain concerning Haiti may be fully worked out.
