He notes that Person Titcomb, a cadet, purchased his own clothing so he should be reimbursed. Captain John Henry has written that his soldiers have also had to purchase their own clothing.
DeBerger is currently in the hospital but probably only has a cold. The clothing will be very acceptable since most of the men are in want. Freeman has recently made a general return of all the ordnance and stores which will assist General Pinckney in his application for supplies. Freeman observes that they are in want of almost everything.
Dr. Buchanan is going to Philadelphia to solicit an appointment as a surgeon in the Army or Navy. His friends have a vey high opinion of his talents. He is the son of an old citizen of New York and he has been educated at Edinburgh and Glasgow. Hodgdon is asked to assert his influence with the Secretary of the Navy and the Secretry of War to secure the appointment for Dr. Buchanan.
